My name is Justin Thomas and I am the designer, creator, and founder of SawDustKing.com. My intention with this site is ironically to actually grow as a woodworker and share my projects and experiences with the public, and hopefully engage others to learn more and share with experiences with my site. I consider myself in most circumstances a beginning to intermediate woodworker.
The name of the site originated from my wife actually, which teases at the fact I make more sawdust than projects. Truth be told she's probably correct but I really enjoy this hobby and my interest to learn and try new things grows with each passing day. I hope I can spread the knowledge of what I have picked up over the past couple of years and continue to grow as a woodworker.
I started woodworking or at least entertaining the thought of it when I was in Baghdad, Iraq in 2009. I'm a technical engineer for the United States Army and belonged to a detachment fourteen soldiers strong at the time. Normally our job entails more construction oriented tasks, but our commander who also shared a love for the craft and a start to a slow year tasked us with designing and building various pieces of furniture, tables, cabinets, and anything that would help make our lifestyle a little more comfortable. You can find pictures of some of these projects here if you're interested. I have a couple of projects that I've done while deployed to Kuwait in 2011 with another unit as well that can be found under the projects link.
You'll notice to the right under "other helpful resources:" there are a list of other well known woodworkers. I've learned a plethora of information from these gentlemen and they keep it entertaining as well. They have much experience and knowledge to share for those who seek it.
So that's all I've got. If you have any questions or want to get a hold of me for any reason I made a Contact link on the left and an email link on the top of each site, or just click here!
