BIO: This was a quick project I put together while I was deployed in 2011-12. It's a simple end grain cutting board made from walnut, ash, and mahogany. I cut the strips about an hour and half wide to get the desired rough thickness of the board then glued together. I rounded the edges with a disc sander and cut the notches with a half inch straight bit. You'll notice from the pictures below that JP (one of the assistants at the woodshop) did the notches. I normally like to do everything myself but he seemed very eager to help. He did a good job. This was a very easy and basic project. Great for anyone wanting to start out in woodworking in fact. Something to note however is to make sure to use a non-toxic glue and finish. I used Gorilla Glue and Mineral Oil for the finish.
