481ST ENGINEERING DETACHMENT SURVEY AND DESIGN OIF/OND 2011/2012:
This was put together to compile a list of events that led to and throughout the deployment while I was attached to this unit. The 481st EN DET is a united states army reserve detachment which originates out of Kingston, NY. It consisted of 14 soldiers, only five was organic to the unit, 9 were cross leveled from 4 different units and 5 different states, and some soldiers were given as little as 4 days notice before deployment. With a not so ideal situation for a unit to be flung together from all over the U.S. in such a short amount of time the 481st was very successful supporting the draw down of forces in Iraq, expansion efforts in Afghanistan and numerous projects in Kuwait during 2011-2012. They're efforts proved to exemplify the resiliency of the United States Army accomplishing its mission even in the harshest of conditions and vast cultural differences to work towards the betterment and safety of the United States.
